Allt na Crìche, Fort Augustus

The trail following Allt na Crìche burn is one of our favourite walks in the area.

This charming walk passes through woodland, rife with mushrooms, mosses and a charming waterfall. Beyond the woodland, it follows a forestry trail and cuts down through a magical pine forest. It’s a varied walk with multiple exceptional viewpoints.

Coming in just under 3km this walk takes a couple of hours with the kiddos, but they’re engaged the whole time, which we love. The circular route will only take an adult an hour or so at a good pace; There are a few good uphill stretches and it’s rocky in places. Not the spot from prams and the like.

We’ve done this walk in all seasons and it never disappoints. If you’ve got an hour or two to spare while staying with us, we highly recommend it for stretching your legs!
